All I've Learned- All I've learned from pain, Is that you will always be cleaned after the rain. All I've learned from life, Is that it is such a short time. All I've learned from my mind, Is that there is no limit to what you can find. All I've learned from what I've left behind, Is that there are far better things ahead in time, And all I've learned from the fear of death, Is that it is whatever you find to accept. -(Elliot Gray Van Orman) 10-9-2012-
Time's knife may cut deep, But its scars are always worth the keep, Only to remind you how strong you can be. With my life and the path it has led, My dreams and nightmares will always escape my head, But only to remind me of the better things my time has said. Everything happens for a reason, You may lose friends, But only to gain better ones in the end. And with shifts and drifts, Time will fade memories away, And tomorrow will soon be yesterday, So always live your life how you want to today, For never again will this moment stay, And with it right now, Live to make the best of your time, And worry not if others mind, And GO FORTH with your infinite way. -(Elliot Gray Van Orman) 1-17-2013,
9 years ago tonight on January 17th, 2004, I had the premiere for my The Day Is Over BMX DVD at Focus Skatepark outside Detroit, Michigan. It was during my senior year at Adams High School in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The turnout was great, and it brought me a blast of joy. I will keep the memories with me for the rest of my life. Although after I released the DVD in late February 2004, its sales were a success, but I wasn't happy with the version I released and its audio track. Afterwards I spent a lot of time trying to fix it / re-master the DVD by doing another round of replication. Even though no one would notice the difference, I still carried on my efforts. Doing this brought out a side of me that has trouble letting go of the idea of perfection. Throughout the summer, I still couldn't get a version of the audio mix that I was happy with, mostly because there was still much I needed to learn. After the summer passed, I moved to Chicago, IL to attend Columbia College film school. My experiences in that city changed and shaped my life in a different direction, as I began working on my next BMX DVD, Time Will Tell, which I released in 2011. Eventually, with the passing of time, I let go of The Day Is Over and just let it be. Both projects taught me very much through trial and error. In time I'm slowly beginning to realize the joy that both DVD's brought BMX and non-BMX people, a nd that helps me believe my efforts were worth it. -(Elliot Gray Van Orman) Watch my entire 2004 The Day Is Over DVD online here: www.egvoproductions.com/the-day-is-over-2004.html www.facebook.com/thedayisoverdvd Also watch my entire 2011 Time Will Tell DVD online here: www.egvoproductions.com/buy-time-will-tell-dvd.html www.facebook.com/timewilltelldvd Below are some pictures from my 2004 The Day Is Over DVD......
